Migrating from Windows to Ubuntu

I was primarily a user, before I started to play around with . First off, I installed it on my home laptop, to see how well it would work… I was thoroughly impressed. Of course, on this laptop, I didn’t need anything but a browser, pidgin, and the basic Office suite. The real test was going to be switching to at work. Migrating away from the beast, , to / Lightning. Surprisingly, it was very easy:

Get the latest version for (after rebate) till the 13th of September ‘07 at Fry’s! I’ve been using the on Vista for the past two weeks and so far its been great!

Update: It seems Fry’s has this sale most of the year.

Anti-virus Software for Windows

After much googling, the top three contenders are Kaspersky, NOD32 and BitDefender. A one-year subscription for equals two years for BitDefender, with NOD32 somewhere in the middle. NOD32 is supposed to have the smallest footprint, and is supposedly the fastest, but doesn’t offer e-mail and web protection like the others. Which AV solution has worked well for you?
